It’s true that summer doesn’t officially start until the 21st of June. Still, Memorial Day is the traditional launch of the summer season. In Northern states, water parks and community pools are opening their doors to provide a place for the overheated masses to cool down and relax. In beautiful Pinellas County, Florida, May is a transition month. The last few cool mornings and evenings give way to three months of constant sultry weather. By the time Memorial Day rolls around, the heat is on. While some may thrive on the summer sunbeams, the elevated seasonal temperatures do require some preparation to prevent sunburns and dehydration. The average Floridian engaged in moderate activity can easily lose two or more liters of water a day. To stay safe and healthy, increased water consumption is strongly encouraged. You know the drill, 8 to 10 glasses of water a day helps keep you properly hydrated and healthy. If you find the prospect of drinking water all day rather unappealing, we have a yummy suggestion to help you mix it up. We definitely recommend still drinking your 8 glasses of water, but to help you break up the monotony and add some “zing” to your hydration plan, we are sharing a Fabulous Basil and Watermelon Water recipe for you to try. According to Health.com this delicious sipper is less than 50 calories per serving. Watermelon packs more lycopene than tomatoes and is a great source of vitamins A and C, so you also get a nutrient boost with this delicious beverage. Fabulous Basil and Watermelon Water
